Garth Ennis is a fantastic writer, and is probably mostly known for the book Preacher in the DC/Vertigo line, plus the show. For those unaware, Ennis also wrote The Punisher for Marvel’s MAX imprint, and put forward what could be the definitive run for the character within his history. His run also inspired both the 2004 Punisher film starring Tom Jane, and Jon Bernthal’s depiction of the character seems to pull from him a lot.
