Warren Ellis, comic book writer, of Transmetropolitan fame, is being cancelled for “bluebearding”, a new term which means having an emotional relationship with a woman, while finally leaving them without committing, or having multiple emotional relationships with women while not committing.
Warren Ellis used to run the WEF Warren Ellis Forums from 1998-2002, where Kelly Sue DeConnick met her husband Matt Fraction, a very creative forum for comic book creators at that time.
Warren Ellis has been forced to apologize for “bluebearding” women, not committing any sexual impropriety, but using his position of influence to make a lot of women engage with him online, messaging him sexually over the internet.
In his apology, he makes it clear that he “never consciously coerced, manipulated, or abused anyone, nor have I ever assaulted anybody”. Regardless, he has been removed from a new DC comic book and Jamal Igle has been placed instead to fill that now vacant spot.
Katie West began accusing him of “bluebearding” in June 2020, over Twitter. Bluebearding is a term originally from a fairy tale of a man who murdered women serially, but now means a man who emotionally leads on women, serially giving affection and attention to women, and then discarding them for new women once he’s done with them.
Kelly Sue DeConnick who appears to be friends with Warren Ellis, says although she has not experienced any “bluebearding” she believes all women who allege that Mr Warren Ellis is a serial “bluebearder”.
