With mainstream superhero comics selling the lowest it had in years compared to the booming YA and manga sales that now dominate the graphic novel sales charts, writers who have driven this very industry to the brink of collapse now want mega corporates to see them as valuable research and development ‘hens’ instead for the IPs (‘eggs’) that they have scrambled. Is the writers’ market all that it’s cracked up to be, with every other writer aiming for a Hollywood deal instead of just wanting to make good, entertaining comics?
