An artist was recently commissioned by Marvel for $100 to come up with a new Spider-Man design, and Marvel decided to double-dip by turning that $100 design fee into a variant cover without informing her. On top of that, the $100 design will probably become a live-action/animated character and/or toy, and the artist will not see a single cent of it. Is Marvel really that cheap, or just broke?
