One of the chief elements lending itself to the argument of Cleopatra’s origin was the “discovery” of her sister Arsinoe’s body, and that body allegedly having traces of sub-Saharan African background. However, this claim has been attacked by prominent classical historian, Mary Beard, and it would appear that this Arsinoe is instead Arsinot.
