Where comic book characters use to have strengths and weaknesses, now they get any ability imaginable. Instead of hurdles to overcome now Spider-man can have everything from energy blades to invisibility. It is almost like super powers are now the equivalent of the Batman utility belt. You can use anything you could ever need.
