DC Comics writer Joshua Williamson explains that because happy people spend less money, DC Comics wants writers to tell stories that makes… customers angry instead? This logic only works if you are not trying to sell an entertainment product whose purpose is to make someone happy. When writers believe their writing to be great works of art that require readers to follow them on multiple years of storytelling with more drama than daytime soap, is it a wonder that comic sales are plummeting?
