Jean Thomas worked at Marvel Comics as an office assistant to Stan Lee and later became the replacement for Flo Steinberg.
In the 1970s Thomas co-created Werewolf by Night in Marvel Spotlight #2 and the ongoing series Night Nurse. Both have since been adapted into live action series and her Night Nurse character, Christine Palmer has been featured in both Doctor Strange and Doctor Stranger in the Multiverse of Madness. During the 1970s she wrote Spidey Super Stories, several parody pieces for Crazy Magazine, and romance stories in My Love and Our Love Stories. Thomas was a ghost-plotter for Conan #31 and also had cameo story appearances in Avengers #83, Marvel Feature #2, Sub-Mariner #19, Spoof #1, and National Lampoon among others.
Jim began his career at Marvel Comics when he was 15, having written to Roy Thomas offering to be “a Marvel slave”; Thomas and Sol Brodsky hired him to be a messenger transporting original art to the offices of the Comics Code Authority for approval. He subsequently worked his way up to editor. He edited The Avengers, The Uncanny X-Men, The Fantastic Four, The Amazing Spider-man, Spider-man and The Marvel Age. He also wrote licensed Marvel comic adaptations of Transformers, Sledge Hammer!, and The A-Team. In the 1990s, Jim became the editor-in-chief of Topps Comics, and today, he is the editor-in-chief at Papercutz Publishers.
