How This Artist Turned Harsh Criticism Into better Art

by 03.30.2025

My video art diary of my work for my independent comic book, The Lucent. This comic book art is for the cover of my upcoming action one-shot, Fractured Mind. In it I’m drawing the protagonist, Ella Forsythe, trying to get as much emotion into her face as I can. In the past, I’ve been criticised for drawing my characters too stiff and without enough expression, so rather than getting defensive, I’m going to use that critique to motivate me to become a better illustrator and cartoonist.

My name is Michael Bancroft and I’m an independent comic book writer and artist. If you’re a fan of the indies, or comic books in general, especially European and French-style Bande Desinnée, then please check out my channel.
