Comic art isn’t just about drawing superheroes or getting published. It’s about finding a language for everything you can’t put into words. The ideas that keep you up at night. The worlds living in your head. The stories only you can tell.

For years, I was a kid obsessed with the likes of Spawn, Witchblade, The Darkness, Cyber-Force – the list goes on! I studied every line, every shadow. Image Comics weren’t just comics to me. They were proof that sequential art could be fine art.

But I spent years stuck. Copying what I saw. Getting better technically but feeling like something was missing. Like there was this gap between what I could do and what I wanted to express.

Everything changed when I discovered the Gnomon Workshop and watched David Finch and Stephen Platte actually work. Not just the final art – their thought process, decisions, and approach. Suddenly I wasn’t just learning techniques. I was learning how to think like a pro.

That led to 8 years teaching at university, working in game studios, publishing my own comic. But more importantly, it led to understanding what comic art really gives you – complete control over visual storytelling. The ability to create worlds that didn’t exist until you drew them.

Ed Foychuk and I built the How to Draw Comics ULTRA OMNIBUS because we remember what it’s like to have all these ideas trapped inside with no clear path to get them out.

We put everything we know into one complete learning program. It’s available at a massive discount for the next few days (500 spots only): https://claytonbarton.gumroad.com/l/wgcuh/ULTRA25

But even if you don’t grab it, watch this video. Because when you understand what comic art can really do – how it can become your voice, your outlet, your way of contributing something meaningful to the world – everything changes.
