In memory of our friend. Come pay respects to one of the chat greats, taken from us far too soon. Tonight we honor the man who was a friend to all, Felix Haas.

My eulogy:

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I relay the passing of our beloved friend, Felix Haas, who has finally succumbed to a month’s long fight with an infection. For over 5 years, Felix has been a staple of many stream chats, and in my own since May of 2020, scarcely missing a show in all that time, earning the title ‘linkmaster’ due to his fervent commitment to posting campaign links.

Felix loved this community, and I get the strong sense that he got a real kick out of seeing people such as myself get a chance to make their dreams happen. I would guess that he took great enjoyment out of being part of that, and he was part of it. A big part. It’s people like Felix, who choose to go so far above and beyond, that make it a joy for me to turn on a live stream and hang out with friends from all over the world. His absence over the last few months has already been deeply felt, and will now be even more sharply felt long into the future.

As for me, I will remember the positivity and cheer he exuded on a consistent basis, no matter what was happening at the time. I’ll remember how he used to apologise to me when he missed a show, and how those apologies continued, even as he became deathly ill. They were never necessary, Felix. I’m just so glad to have known you.

And while I’ll forever count this a very sad day indeed, in the words of the bard, be sure I count myself in nothing else so happy as in a soul remembering my good friends.
