How To Draw Comics Academy: https://www.howtodrawcomicsacademy.com/
A solid hair-do can be as unique and memorable as the character it sits on top of… it might even be one of the most recognizeable aspects of their design! With rhythmic contours, lively gesture, and style that enhances the overall impact of your characters, learning how to draw hair well it is a worthwhile endeavor.
In this lesson I’m going to show you the quickest way to get there… or at least the true and tried methods that have worked for me. Specifically, we’ll be tackling the basics of drawing hair, so you’ve got a rock solid foundation for the more advanced stuff we’ll take a look at in the following lessons.
You’ll learn how to define the shape of hair using a simple shape that anyone can execute – no matter what their drawing level might be! Then I’ll show you how to divide it up, taking that shape from looking like a block of wood, to something ‘furry’.
Then we’ll take it a step further, and I’ll show you how to layer multiple clumps of hair onto a dome. We’ll talk about composing an overall style, the effects of gravity (and in later episodes, the effects of wind and water).
By the end of this lesson you’ll have a dependable, go-to technique for drawing quality, comic-style hair that looks professional. Best of all, it’s an approach that’ll work for pretty much anyone. So get your pencils and sketch books ready – and I’ll see you in class!
