Anya Taylor-Joy has been confirmed as Seren in The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum — a character who does not exist anywhere in Tolkien’s writings, invented by director Andy Serkis for the 2027 film. Joining Ian McKellen as Gandalf, Elijah Wood as Frodo, and Kate Winslet as Marigol — another invented character — the Hunt for Gollum is expanding Tolkien’s legendarium with original creations in the same way Amazon’s Rings of Power did, raising serious questions about whether Walsh and Boyens can succeed where a billion-dollar series failed.
