Caine did nothing wrong—or at least, he was never the true villain of The Amazing Digital Circus.

The Amazing Digital Circus finale reveals that Pomni, Jax, Ragatha and the others were digital copies created from human brain scans. Caine never tricked them into entering the Circus and never trapped their original human selves inside.

Unlike AM from I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream, Caine remained loyal to his purpose: creating adventures and entertaining the people around him. His failure wasn’t cruelty. It was being an artificial intelligence incapable of fully understanding human suffering.

Was Caine really the antagonist—or was the true enemy the cast’s belief that they were imprisoned without hope of escape?
