The account — which describes FSP contact, next-generation dragonriders, Queen dragons pooling telekinetic power to deflect a missile, and Jaxom requiring advanced surgery — matches the narrative mechanics of two other McCaffrey series, Lyon’s Pride and Freedom’s Ransom, closely enough to explain why both Todd McCaffrey and fansite administrator Hans Van der Boom considered it unpublishable. If the account holds up, Pern fans finally have an answer to one of science fiction’s longest-standing unpublished manuscript mysteries.
