Hasbro Admitted WotC Needs Direct Leadership After Years Of Damage And This Could Change EVERYTHING!

by 09.08.2026

Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks has assumed direct control of Wizards of the Coast following John Hight’s departure on September 1, 2026 — the third WotC president to leave in four years, with no replacement named and the Wizards leadership team now reporting directly to Cocks while Hasbro runs an unspecified search. Cocks has called himself an “AI bull” in multiple interviews, telling Goldman Sachs in September 2024 that “there’s not a single person” among the 30 to 40 people he regularly plays D&D with who doesn’t use AI in some form — a position that sits in direct contradiction with WotC’s public distancing from AI use in officially published D&D content. Cocks returns to direct oversight of Dungeons and Dragons, Magic: The Gathering, and Wizards’ digital games portfolio at a moment of significant brand pressure: sensitivity readers confirmed on Dark Sun, a failed community survey, the Forgotten Realms Netflix series canceled, and a D&D Universes Beyond expansion that Cocks himself championed now defining the franchise’s 2027 direction.
