Matrix director Lilly Wachowski told Variety that JK Rowling “funds trans genocide” and called both Rowling and Elon Musk “literal Nazis” while promoting his Anarchists United studio — prompting a written correction from Rowling’s agent Neil Blair explaining that The JK Rowling Women’s Fund supports women taking legal action under the UK Equality Act and does not fund actions aimed at harming transgender people. The genocide and Nazi comparisons are the latest escalation in a six-year campaign that has included cast defections, a reunion snub, a 3-billion-view TikTok boycott of Hogwarts Legacy, and calls for boycotts of Cursed Child and the HBO Harry Potter series — none of which have changed Rowling’s public position or measurably dented Harry Potter’s commercial performance.
