Russell T Davies, the former Doctor Who showrunner who revived the series for both the BBC and its Disney+ era, has gone public with his relationship with Oliver Cole, a 27-year-old Australian model — a 36-year age gap. Davies acknowledged it was “ridiculous” but spoke warmly about the relationship, noting Cole visited the Doctor Who set and received a behind-the-scenes TARDIS tour. Jon covers the story: the power dynamic between a showrunner and someone who entered his world through the production, the media’s cheerful coverage of an age gap they’d cover very differently if the genders were reversed, and what it reveals about the two-tiered standards applied to progressive figures in entertainment.
