HBO Max pulled Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout — the child actors playing Harry, Hermione, and Ron in the new Harry Potter series — from London’s Oxford Street Christmas lights switch-on after trans activists petitioned Mayor Sadiq Khan to cancel the event entirely. The Good Law Project argued the event wouldn’t make trans people feel safe, and the Metropolitan Police raised concerns about public disorder from protests. HBO’s official statement made no mention of safety fears, claiming scheduling conflicts instead. The Harry Potter series premieres Christmas Day on HBO Max. This is what happens when activist mobs target children to score political points against J.K. Rowling.
