On Part One of How to Become a Great Inker – we’re going to need to learn from the Greats! If we aren’t able to go to school and get formal training on inking (which might not be learning from a great either), or we can’t intern or sit down beside a great and learn from them directly, you’ll have to turn to other sources. I learned by studying Scott Williams and looking at his amazing inks. There are things you can’t learn this way, like certain techniques etc. but you can “see” what they are doing.
Now with the dawn of Youtube and Patreon and social media we do have the unique opportunity to actually virtually sit beside a great inker and learn from them, hearing all the things you could only get interning with them years ago. So use the resources at your disposal, Black and White Artist Editions, books, and the great world wide web!

Speaking of which, I have Black & White Artist Editions available of my work should you want to check out more of my inks! https://ericninaltowskiart.square.site/shop/shadow-sentry/2

In Part Two we’ll look at tools and building confidence in your line-work! See you then!
