Coloring a Night City Scene From Scratch in Comics!

by 04.05.2025

My video art diary of my work for my independent comic book, The Lucent. This comic book art is from my upcoming book, Fractured Mind. In it, I’m coloring a page of Rod Luper’s art, depicting my protagonist Ella leaping across the page, high above a city scape drawn in 3-point perspective. On a page as tricky as this, I often can’t visualize exactly how the final colors are going to come out. So, in instances like this, I start on things I know I’m definitely going to need, like shadows and ambient street lighting. Once they’re sorted, I can finally start to see where I want to take the page.

My name is Michael Bancroft and I’m an independent comic book writer and artist. If you’re a fan of the indies, or comic books in general, especially European and French-style Bande Desinnée, then please check out my channel. I want to make more original content based on my own work, so if you’re interested in this kind of video, please hit like, subscribe, and leave a comment.
