Marty O’Donnell — composer of the iconic Halo theme and every mainline Halo game through Reach — was disinvited from SacAnime’s Halo 25th anniversary Labor Day reunion after a former Kamala Harris campaign-linked X account mischaracterized comments he made about Marxism and Western civilization as calls to persecute LGBTQ people. O’Donnell’s actual statement discussed Marxism and anti-Western philosophy as existential threats — standard conservative political rhetoric with no call to persecute anyone — but SacAnime pulled his invitation two weeks after requesting promotional material, citing LGBTQ staff discomfort. O’Donnell is also the Republican nominee against Democratic Rep. Susie Lee in Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District, one of the most competitive House races in the country, with a full Trump endorsement and Dean Cain appearing at his NRCC field office ribbon-cutting.
