Epic fantasy news: New details have emerged about the banning of a Terry Brooks superfan from the Terry Brooks Community Facebook group, revealing the situation is significantly worse than initially reported. His political disagreement with Grim Oak Press co-owner Jeff Lawson happened on a third party’s personal Facebook page with no connection to Grim Oak or Terry Brooks fan spaces. Grim Oak co-owner Shawn Speakman — who administers the Terry Brooks Community — responded by banning Hilpert from every community space he controls and publicly posting the ban for the entire Terry Brooks fandom to see, making an example of one of Brooks’s most dedicated collectors in front of his largest audience of readers. Grim Oak Press publishes Terry Brooks’ premium collector editions including leatherbound sets purchased by the fan they publicly humiliated.
