It’s Crazy That Classic Fantasy Is Outselling Modern Slop And Roger Zelazny Just PROVED IT!

by 08.20.2026

Centipede Press’s signed and numbered edition of Roger Zelazny’s Roadmarks — 400 copies at $100 each — sold out in under 24 hours of going live in August 2026, generating $40,000 in sales for a 1979 novel that Zelazny fans don’t even consider among his best work. Zelazny won six Hugos and three Nebulas across a career that produced Lord of Light, the Chronicles of Amber, and Doorways in the Sand before his death in 1995 at age 58. The Roadmarks sellout follows a pattern across the premium small press collector market — Subterranean Press, Suntup Editions, and Centipede Press consistently sell out classic science fiction and fantasy reprints in hours while the mainstream publishing industry pushes fan fiction adaptations and sensitivity-reader-approved new releases that struggle to find lasting audiences.
