I am reading the Seicho66 indie comic to see how this alien kaiju story holds up after sitting on my shelf since 2020.
My goal is to read one creator owned comic every day for a month, and today I am finally getting to this American production with a decidedly Japanese bent. It is a strange relic of the independent comics scene that I have been meaning to revisit for years. I flip through the pages to examine how the narrative and art style define the book’s unique atmosphere.
Seeing how a creator handles these specific genre sequences provides a unique perspective on the craft of sequential art. It is a fun experience that highlights the potential of independent projects, even when they have been waiting in the collection for a long time.
