I confronted SFWA at World Fantasy Con and submitted my application to join — right there on the convention floor. SFWA, the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association, is supposed to represent working sci-fi and fantasy authors. Instead it’s become a gatekeeping organization run by a political clique that has worked to push out conservative, Catholic, and traditional authors for years. As an Amazon bestselling science fiction author, I meet every qualification for membership. So I applied. In this video I break down what happened, what the reaction was, and why this fight matters for the future of science fiction as a genre. If the establishment won’t let us in, we show up anyway.
