A funny thing happened on the way to oblivion: In 1993, Malibu Comics launched the Ultraverse with great acclaim, but a near collapse of the comic market torpedoed their growth. By 1994 they sold out to Marvel Comics, and by 1996 the Ulraverse was no more. Now, 27 years after its launch, we talk with Publisher Dave Olbrich, Creative Director Tom Mason, and Editor-in-Chief Chris Ulm, Ultraverse founders, about what happened back then and the resurgent popularity of the Ultraverse.
