Disney is creating a brand new distribution segment with Mulan– blockbuster pay-per-view events on a paid subscription-on-demand service. The timing is great for them with movie theaters being closed. The Hollywood Reporter found 19 percent of Disney+ subscribers surveyed in the poll said they’d be “very interested” in purchasing Mulan, with another 23 percent saying they’d be “somewhat interested” in buying the title. That’s an estimated 25% of subscribers buying the $30 Mulan rental, but it could be as high as 50% of their installed 60 million subscriber base. I’m expecting $300 to $400 million in rentals for Mulan, especially considering they’ll likely add at least a million paid monthly subscribers who sign up to the service to watch it! Here’s my full take!
