Former comic store owner and current YouTuber Nerdrotic claims that “indy” comics creator need to choose between making their comics or creating comics campaign, while YouTubers like him proudly tout the fact that they do not need to crowdfund, and instead sell ‘hot-and-ready’ books. Why are they so against the crowdfunding model, and why are they against the pre-order model for both the comic direct market and almost every other entertainment market, for that matter?
