James Gunn takes us into Gotham City—not through the eyes of the Dark Knight, but through a gruesome, tragic, and utterly captivating body horror origin story. Here is our full review of DC’s Clayface.
Instead of playing it safe, this film leans entirely into David Cronenberg-style transformation horror, grounding the tragic descent of Matt Hagen with jaw-dropping practical effects and stomach-turning CGI that genuinely delivers. The entire cast brings intense, committed performances that make you feel the heartbreak behind the monster, turning what could have been a simple villain setup into a deeply compelling character study.
It’s an incredible introduction to Clayface that leaves you desperate to see how this version of the character collides with the rest of the DCU.
