DC Comics announced a one-shot in the comic ‘DC Festival of Heroes: The Asian Superhero Celebration’ featuring a new character based off the Monkey King from Journey to the West. Marvel is not far behind with a movie by John Woo featuring Stan Lee’s Monkey King-based creation Monkey Master. Why do these big corporates want to repackage another culture’s stories to sell it back to them? Is Lego’s Monkie Kid part of the problem? How about Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball series?
